Carlyle Mansions
Situated on Cheyne Walk in the heart of Chelsea, London, Carlyle Mansions is a prestigious residential block established in 1886. The building is named after the famous writer and historian Thomas Carlyle, who spent much of his life in Chelsea. Often called the "Writers' Block," Carlyle Mansions is renowned for its literary history, having housed notable figures such as Henry James, Erskine Childers, T. S. Eliot, Somerset Maugham, and Ian Fleming. Initially envisioned in the early 1990s by minimalist architect John Pawson, the building later experienced a revised architectural approach by a London-based architecture firm, leading to a thoughtful evolution of the original design.
